Alpinestars Bionic Pro Back Protector — Independent Full-Spine Coverage

The Bionic Pro is Alpinestars' standalone back protector. Unlike insert-style protectors that depend on jacket pocket dimensions, this wears as its own garment with a harness system. It fits under any jacket — or without one for warm-weather riding.

Materials & Vegan Verification

Alpinestars Bio-Foam: a closed-cell ethylene vinyl acetate (EVA) composite with external nylon shell. Verified vegan. No leather, no wool padding, no animal-derived adhesives. The harness is synthetic nylon with polypropylene buckles.

Standalone vs Insert — When You Need the Harness Version

Fit

Available in S–XL. The harness uses cam-buckle chest straps and a waist belt. It sits flush under most jackets without adding visible bulk.

Verdict

If your riding involves any jacket-free conditions or your jacket simply cannot take a Level 2 insert, the Bionic Pro is the correct solution. More expensive than a pocket insert, but fully independent of jacket compatibility.
