EN 1621-1 for Hips Explained

EN 1621-1 covers limb protectors: shoulders, elbows, knees, and hips. Hip protectors are tested at the greater trochanter (outer hip bone). Level 2 is the meaningful upgrade for any rider who spends time on the motorway or does spirited riding.

Compatibility

REV'IT! Seesoft Level 2 hip inserts fit REV'IT! pants with CE hip pocket systems (most REV'IT! pants from 2018+). They also fit many third-party pants with a standard CE hip pocket. Check pocket dimensions — most CE hip pockets accept a ~150 × 160mm insert.

Verdict

If your pants have CE hip pockets, they almost certainly shipped with Level 1 inserts. Replacing them with Level 2 costs under €40. Do it.
